Day 7&8: The Infamous Hwy 1 Drive

"Guzzle guzzle" was the advice given to us by one of the band members just last evening, all but seven hours ago. We did as he said which lands us where we are now, under our starchy, yet filmy Sunset Motel comforters as we awake at 8a.m. Two showers later, which were made possible by the help of the motel bar soap and face wash (in replace of shampoo and conditioner, of course), we set sail on our journey back to San Francisco.

First stop: a morning bird breakfast prepared by the Santa Barbaric IHop chefs. Exquisite orange juice, hash browns, and sausage settled Danielle's stomach, therefore she felt it was best to leave her omelet untouched. A spinach omelet fueled Jaclyn for the time being.

Breathtaking sites of the glorious Pacific Coast kept us (namely the driver) distracted during our 3 hour drive to Nepenthe, as we tried to race the sun to the set. *Nepenthe is the stop we made just in time for the sunset which was settled on the edge of the cliff overlooking the water and mountains. We had dinner at the Nepenthe restaurant and need we say our wallets were a lot lighter when we departed. *Side Note: Jaclyn left her Nikon camera in a drawer at the Sunset Motel in Santa Barbara. No need to worry, it is safe, yet still there.

After the sun went down, we realized it would be best to find a motel on the road and stay the night rather than rushing back in the dark on the windy highway. Non-existent reception, lack of internet service, invisible landline room phone, and no way of communication left many of our loved ones worried of our where-abouts. Actually, only Danielle can vouch for that. We later learned that there was a tremendously violent earthquake [6.5 on the richter] that occurred in Northern California.

The next morning we hit the road and drove several hundred miles until we hit Carmel by the Sea. We took a stroll on the beach overflowing with ecstatic puppies playing the game of fetch with their owners. The ocean was near freezing. As time flew by, we purchased some more memorabilia and had ourselves two sandwich dinners.

A erratic and quick, yet safe enough, journey back into San Francisco left us tired, so after we finished a bottle and a half of wine we went to sleep.

QUOTES:
Jaclyn: "Uh, Danielle, do you want me to drive?"
Danielle: "No, why?"
Jaclyn: "Because you are swerving all over the road."

"That one's for the mantle!"
-random guy who took our picture, among the many who assume us to be a dating couple.

[hypothetical response to the recounting of our internship]
Danielle: "Two things I've learned about Jaclyn: She is extremely slow, and she has become homosexual."
Jaclyn: "Two things I've learned about Danielle: She frequently has panic attacks, and she is my future wife."

Danielle: "Russ, why don't you ever pay attention to what I'm saying?"
Russ: "Huh? I'm watching a movie with subtitles."

Jaclyn: "It's weird that before this, our relationship consisted only of sitting across from each other in the studio."
